Hello and welcome to Weekend Coffee Share #41! I’m glad you’re here. Please come on in, help yourself to a cup of coffee, or tea, or hot chocolate at my coffee station and let’s chat.
It was a week of lovely autumnal weather, with daytime high temperatures ranged from 20C to 22C (68F-72F). I did my best to be outside in it:
- I treated one of my nieces to a belated birthday Sunday brunch. Good food, good conversation.
- I celebrated Thanksgiving Monday on October 11 by going to Toronto Islands with my family in the morning, then met up with my neighbour for a 5K walk in the afternoon, before returning home for a special dinner.
- I did a lot of cycling and walking on the next three days to see various historic sites and public art exhibits.
Last Friday, I shared the first half of my best trip to Niagara Falls which covered the spectacular waterfalls. Today I’m sharing the second half which covers the Fleurs de Villes Niagara Falls floral trail.

About Fleurs de Villes
Fleurs de Villes events are organized in various cities around the world. I was thrilled to attend two of them close to home this year: Fleurs de Villes Rosé in Toronto (August 4-8) and in Niagara Falls, Canada (September 24 – October 3). Both events were free.
Fleurs de Villes Niagara Falls
Fleurs de Villes floral installations in Niagara Falls were spread out along a trail with a short uphill hike. My sister and I picked up a brochure that includes a map and listing of the floral exhibits. Most of them were outdoors and some were indoors.
The weather was perfect for our walk: Sunny, high 21C (70F) and calm wind. We had so much fun chatting, following the trail, discovering, viewing the floral displays up close and taking photos. I hope you enjoy the following photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.

This was beautiful! And so creative! I have never heard of Fleus de Villes. I would love to visit something like this in person. Now, I did click on the images to see them larger, but nothing happened. Even so, this post get top marks! I do wonder if the flowers are real. If so, how do they not wilt? Great capture of the floral rainbow with a real rainbow! And I also really like the Three Sisters Indigenous Mannequin. Actually, I like them all! Thanks for sharing!

I included a link to the Fleurs de Villes event schedule in my post. It’s happening in New York City Oct 8-17, then in Seattle Dec 17-27. There are dates in Montreal, Vancouver, Sydney, Melbourne in Australia, Cape Town in South Africa, etc.
Most of the flowers on this trail are real. The florists have techniques to make them last for the event duration (10 days). The floral displays do look better at the start of the event as opposed to the end so I’d suggest to go as soon as possible. Have a great weekend!

A wonderful set of outings and what glorious weather, Natalie! Love your orange images and everything looks warm, sunny, and inviting. So interesting how the indigenous people cultivated and relied on corns, beans, and squash for their food. You were quite busy with a birthday lunch and Thanksgiving. Toronto always seems to have such interesting and unique art events and it’s great you keep up with it all and eventually share it with your readers! Glad to see your link for Sunday Stills!

Terri, We’ve had such a mild autumn so far and I take advantage of any nice day I get, to be outside. Toronto is a big supporter of the arts. There are always several art events going on plus great displays by local artists. My phone camera is full of photos, waiting to be shared on my blog. Thank you for hosting Sunday Stills. I like colour challenges. They’re fun to participate.

The lady on the swing and the queen are so great! I zoomed in to see the detail of Marilyn Monroe – the petal dress is stunning. What a fabulous excursion! We missed our flower show – lockdown again. (I also couldn’t comment on the post before mine for some reason so I did the one next to it – but I did visit both).

This floral trail is truly amazing, breathtaking! I prefer to scroll by the photos full size, it enhances the experiences (since your quality of photos are good. On some blogs the quality isn’t the best, and then I prefer smaller images, or having the choice of opening the ones I am particularly interested in.)
Happy belated Thanksgiving!
My week was very good, inspring. I attended a educational day about the importance of exercise for children, held by Carolina Klüft https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carolina_Klüft. Our school participates in a sports program that she is in charge of. I enjoyed that day very much. I also read som books for school about ways to make school accessible for every student (especially special needs students,) that inspired and motivated me this week. Overall a fabulous week.
Thank you for inviting us for coffee again 🙂

Hi Natalie,
Once again I was wafting along today, and forget to do my Coffee Share post until tonight. Spent too much time among the flannel flowers, as well as undertaking a 24 hr no screen challenge, which I didn’t exactly fail, but in my typical fashion had a few exceptions.
I really loved your post this week and the breathtaking photos of the Fleurs de Villes Niagara Falls floral trail. They blew me away and thanks so much for sharing. I have a few friends who are florists and I’ll share it with them. They will be over the moon, especially after being in lockdown for 4 months.
Hope you have a good week.
Best wishes,
Rowena

Hi Rowena, It would be a challenge to blog when you’re undertaking a 24 hr no screen challenge 🙂 The florists did an amazing job for the Fleurs de Villes events, both in Niagara Falls and Toronto. I included the link to the Toronto event in my post. Feel free to share with your florists friends. The flowers and their colours are instant mood lifters.
There is an upcoming Fleurs de Villes event from Nov 12 to 21 in Melbourne, and next year on August 19-28 at the Royal Botanical Garden in Sydney. I hope you and your friends get to see either or both events. Have a wonderful week!

Thanks so much for letting me know about the Australian Fleurs de Villes events. It will be interesting to see how the Melbourne one goes. They come out of their umpteenth lockdown this Friday although the numbers are still high for us. Queensland and Western Australia aren’t allowed to leave the state. The rest of us are contaminated. I will try to make it to the one in Sydney. It’s stunning.
Best wishes,
Rowena

I read about Melbourne long lockdown. I hope the reopening goes well without setback. Most of the Fleurs de Villes displays in Toronto and Niagara Falls were outdoors and well spaced out. We also have high vaccination rate and a mask mandate to enter indoor public spaces.

I looked at the images before I read your text – and was wondering why some of the exhibits looked similar to some of the ones you shared earlier this year at the Fleur de Villes Rose. Now I know. I wonder how many of the same sculptor florists joined again.
So many stunning displays – my favourite has to be the Three Sisters because of the delightful squash. I have a soft spot for pumpkins and all interesting looking squashes!

According to the two event brochures, some of the florists were in both events but not all. If you like squashes and pumpkins, October is prime season to see them here.

How interesting to see there are events coming up in Australia too, Natalie. Thanks for that. I admit I do love a massed floral display and with “nothing” happening here (of course, the flowers are coming up) yet thanks to lockdown just finished…I would enjoy a walk to see some of these beauties.
Thanks so much for linking up for #LifeThisWeek. Next week I will publish the second half of the Women of Courage Wrap but the optional prompt is “X Marks the Spot”. Great to have your blog as part of the community here this week. Denyse.
