Greetings! Summer officially arrived in the Northern Hemisphere on June 21 and brought with her a solid week of sunny days and warm temperatures in my corner of the world. I was happy to be outside cycling, walking and exploring every day.
What’s in Bloom
June is a wonderful time to visit Toronto’s parks and gardens with so many plants in bloom. I’m sharing the bigger or high volume blooms in this post and save the smaller blooms for another post. Here are just a few that I’ve seen on my visits.
I greatly appreciate Nature’s gifts and the gardeners’ work efforts. The beautiful blooms bring me so much joy and gratitude.
Pride of the Waterfront
One more ‘bouquet’ in June… Here’s the fabulous Pride of the Waterfront Display by Cliff Hassanally. This exhibit consists of over 1000 pool noodles and took over 100 hours to assemble.
For more plant photos, visit Terri’s Sunday Stills Plant Life photo challenge.
Weekend Coffee Share
I’d love for you to share what’s in bloom in your corner of the world and/ or favourite public art photos from around the world in the comments or Weekend Coffee Share linkup #124 InLinkz below.

Thanks for cheering up my Friday, Natalie. The blooms are amazing. I did have to think about all the “trash” of those pool noodles, whenever that last display disintegrates or will get removed.

Hi Liesbet, I hope the artist finds ways to re-use the pool noodles, just as creative as he’s made that cheerful ‘bouquet’ sculpture. I visited a rose garden this morning with a friend and the blooms were gorgeous.

One of my favourite things about flowers is the variety. Your pictures capture the beautiful colours.

I love that shade of poppy! I used to have some poppies in the garden by they disappeared. I should try again. And I LOVE the pool noodle flowers!

Yes, that shade of poppy is less common and beautiful. When I saw the pool noodle flowers, I though the artist was so creative to make such a cheerful ‘bouquet’. I’m glad you love them.

Unlike us, you certainly don’t have June Gloom going on where you live. Adore the photo of the wild roses. Well, all the flowers actually.

No June gloom here, Ally. I visited a rose garden with a friend this morning and the blooms are gorgeous there.

Hi Natalie, Royal Poincianas are in bloom in our town. They have been magnificent this year. I will try to include one in my Sunday post. I love how the petals of the poppy look like thin pieces of paper. Always a favorite. The pool noodle creation must be a real crowd-pleaser! It certainly made me smile.

Hi Suzanne, I look forward to seeing your Royal Poinciana flower photos. That pool noodle display looks cheerful, doesn’t it? I thought the artist was so creative with his choice of materials.

All the flowers are beautiful, but those blush poppies especially so. Here in Wiltshire the countryside is dotted with bold red poppies and ox eye daisies. A lovely sight on the daily walk.

Hi, Natalie – I’m delighted that summer has had an excellent start out your way. Today is warm on Central Vancouver Island but our first three weeks of June were unseasonably cool. Fingers crossed for a warm summer weather for both of us!

Hi Donna, Yes, fingers crossed for a nice summer. According to Environment Canada, this summer is expected to be a scorcher in Ontario. It’s warm and humid here this weekend and into next week with showers here and there.

I love your June blooms, Natalie. I expect you will link to Sunday Stills’ “plant life” on Sunday! Seems we have similar wildflowers–the lupine (one of my faves), and the yellow irises we discovered 2 weeks ago by the river. I love those pink poppies!

Thank you, Terri. I think the colours of lupine and yellow iris complement each other. I look forward to linking to Sunday Stills on Sunday!

The blush poppies are beautiful. I’ve only seen the red ones. Pool noodles are being used for all kinds of things these days. The flower bouquet is the most interesting use I’ve seen.

What a colorful post, Natalie. I love the Noodle art! Nature is a great inspiration and so beautiful, and it always amazes me how someone can visualize nature in so many art forms. This one takes the prize, though! Thanks again and again for hosting WECS and PPAC. You’re awesome! 🙂

Hi, Natalie,
Peonies have been a favorite of mine since childhood. My grandmother had a huge garden filled with them in various colors, and she hovered over them every year. Always partial to Iris as well since it’s the State Flower of Tennessee. My contribution to your beautiful display is a Rhododendron captured in the North Carolina mountains this week. Have a great week! Joe

We are slap bang in the midst of winter but have now gone past the shortest day…your beginning of Summer, so there will be more blooms ahead. I linked up a bit late but wanted to share a small part of my news about the blog. Happy weekend, Denyse
