What a great visit that must have been, Natalie. Whoever does these ice sculptures are very talented. It must have been very cold for them not to have melted.

Hugh, Icefest is an annual event that I look forward to attending. I read that the ice carvers are from Quebec. The event was on for 2 days. The overnight temperature was cold but during the day it was balmy at 8C so some of the ice sculptures melt and toppled over. We were fortunate to see most of them still in good shape.

Always fun! I have fond memories of a regular ice sculpture festival in the city of York. I think it was usually before Christmas, but it was always cold!

Yes, it’s fun to see attend an ice sculpture festival. The weather was balmy, 8 Celsius degrees on the day I went to see these ice sculptures. A few of them had melt or toppled over.

Hi, Natalie – Your ice-sculptures are stunning. We used to have a Fire and Ice Fest in Qualicum Beach each winter (Ice-sculptures and Chilli). I believe that it disappeared during COVID lockdowns and never returned.

Hi Donna, COVID lockdown has hurt many businesses and events. It’s sad that the Fire and Ice Fest disappeared. Fortunately, the annual Icefest event in Bloor Yorkville has continued during the COVID pandemic. I’m pleased you liked these ice sculptures.

Michelle, I’m pleased you like the ice sculptures. Icefest is an annual event and the ice sculptures are placed on a number of streets in a nice neighbourhood. It was a fun trail to walk and discover.

I watched some ice sculptors at work and they are highly skilled. The outdoor temperatures and wind affect the longevity of the ice sculptures. This is an annual event that I look forward to attending. The theme changes every year.

Nice photos of the ice sculptures. We used to have an ice sculpture festival here 20 years ago. It is very weird seeing Ice sculptures without deep snow everywhere. But meh. This is the first year in History where the Rideau Canal Skateway in Ottawa never opened. It has been very snowy in Eastern Ontario. But also extremely mild this year.

Hey, I’m glad the theme worked so that these sculptures could be seen again. It makes me wonder if artists do anything in downtown Spokane like that over the holidays. Where the Pavilion is in Riverfront Park is the perfect venue. We know it’s certainly cold enough 🙂

If Spokane holds an ice sculpture event, it will attract many visitors. I look forward to the annual Icefest in Toronto every winter. This year the weather was mild on the weekend the event was held. Fortunately I got to see most of the ice sculptures before they melt.
